NEW YORK, NY<\/strong> \u2013 The Bronx High School of Science \u2013 Stanley Manne \u201952 Institute of Science has been honored by Engineering News Record (ENR)<\/a> as a 2023 New York Best Project of the Year. It received top honors in the K-12 Education category.<\/p>\n The 10,000 sq. ft. facility provides Bronx High School of Science students with state-of-the-art university and corporate quality research lab spaces outfitted with new, modern equipment. Consigli\u2019s project team overcame various obstacles during construction related to design changes and supply chain issues by carefully coordinating material releases and offering creative solutions, including working with subcontractors for schedule flexibility.<\/p>\n In compliance with New York City\u2019s Local Law 97, which requires most large buildings to meet new energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions limits by 2024, the Stanley Manne \u201952 Institute eliminates use of fossil fuel burning equipment. The structure is one of the first fully electrified laboratory buildings in New York City, with an impressive energy use index registering far below that of peer buildings using the International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories benchmarking.<\/p>\n In addition to receiving this New York regional honor, Consigli also received ENR New England\u2019s top award in the Higher Education\/Research category for its work on Bowdoin College\u2019s John and Lile Gibbons Center for Arctic Studies and Barry Mills Hall<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n Project teams recognized by ENR\u2019s panel of judges as regional Best Project winners were evaluated on how they were able to overcome challenges, contribute to industry innovation and benefit the community, as well as overall excellence in design, construction and safety execution.<\/p>\n Read more about the project in ENR\u2019s November issue here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n
